Looks We Love: Paz Vega at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony and The Great Gatsby Screening

Spanish film star Paz Vega shut it down at the opening ceremony and screening of The Great Gatsby at the 66th Annual Cannes International Film Festival.  She arrived wearing a stunning crystal embroidered tulle gown which featured a corset piece underneath, simple Ferragamo peep toe pumps, and a Ferragamo clutch.  Her side swept hair and minimal jewelry were a perfect compliment to her glamorous look.

I will definitely be keeping an eye out for her on future red carpets.  Her style is impeccable.  Classic and chic with just a touch of edge.

Kudos to Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland sent the blogosphere and social media in a frenzy with the release of her single Dirty Laundry.  Kelly sings very candidly in the song revealing her feelings of inferiority following Beyonce's success and hiccups in their friendship.  She also sings about facing domestic violence in a former romantic relationship.

People have speculated about the sincerity of the friendships between the Destiny's Child members for years, and Kelly really cleaned her dirty laundry by saying how she genuinely felt.  In the song she tells how she watched Beyonce (whom she refers to as her sister throughout the song) achieve so much and she admits questioning her own career.  Not to mention speaking about enduring a physically abusive relationship. 

It seems that Kelly is at the height of her singing career right now with back to back hit singles, a plethora of appearances and performances, and impeccable style.  It took a lot of guts to stand on this kind of platform and say to the world: this is what I've been going through, this is how I felt, and this is where I am now.  

I have a very sincere admiration for people that can stand on their truth past, present, and future.  The best way to propel yourself forward is to accept and learn from your past, but to do so in such a public forum has me truly in awe of this woman.  We often times look at celebrities as if they are impervious to real life issues when in reality, they deal with many of the things that we do and they have to do so publicly.  However, it takes a toll on them as well when they deal with these things behind closed doors unable to really say what's going on.  Internally dealing with struggles is something that a great deal of people can relate to, which is why the song is so relatable.

From what I've observed on the web today the song and the message are being very positively received by the masses.  Kudos to you Kelly!  This is definitely your time, and you are certainly moving into your own spotlight.

Kerry Washington Covers Elle Magazine

As if we needed another reason to love Kerry Washington.  In addition to her many recent appearances and red carpet looks, the Scandal actress has landed the cover of the June issue of Elle magazine.  When asked about how she prepares for the red carpet the self-proclaimed "luckiest broad in Hollywood," replied: "I found out I enjoy the process. All these people show up at my house, they all have kits, someone has dresses. And it’s like, Let’s have fun. It’s not all about me. We’re able to create stories on the red carpet.”  Those are fashion stories that we enjoy reading Ms. Washington, so keep them coming!
